Thai Girls’ Love (GL) drama’s popular couple pairing “GinJay” made their debut on Taipei 101’s LED façade on Christmas Eve, December 24, starting at 6:02 p.m. The display ran 16 times in one night, 30 seconds each, for a total exposure time of 480 seconds. This marks a milestone record as the first time Thai celebrities have made a “light confession” on Taipei 101, symbolizing the strong attention and support for Thai GL culture in Taiwan’s film and television market.
In recent years, Thai GL dramas have continued to flourish, with dozens of related titles released over the past year alone. As the market expands, production companies have been investing increasing resources—not only casting well-known mainstream actors, but also securing prime-time television slots for some works. This indicates that GL content is gradually moving from niche to mainstream, while building a large base of loyal viewers and fans in Taiwan. Among the most talked-about titles recently is the Thai GL drama Poisonous Love (Chinese title: 愛情毒藥), produced by North Star Entertainment (NORTH STAR ENTERTAINMENT). The story follows female celebrity Pat and cardiothoracic surgeon Prem, whose lives unexpectedly intersect due to a wedding-related incident. Through conflict, misunderstandings, and a process of rediscovering one another, the two gradually develop a complex yet intense emotional bond.
The 10-episode series concluded on November 22. Since the finale aired, the show’s accumulated views on YouTube have surpassed 100 million. The two lead actresses, Ginny Natnicha and Jayna Angelina, formed the CP pairing “GinJay” through their highly synchronized performances, quickly gaining a large international fanbase. They have become one of the most closely watched artist pairings in Thailand’s GL community this year, and their Taiwan fan site has already gathered nearly 4,000 supporters. From the end of this year through early next year, multiple Thai GL actors are expected to visit Taiwan for fan meetings. The GinJay Taiwan fan site specially participated in Taipei 101’s “Christmas Messages • Light-Up Confession” campaign, using the light display to convey Taiwanese fans’ support and blessings. The event also served to build momentum for upcoming fan activities, with hopes that GinJay will visit Taiwan in person next year to interact with fans up close.
The light-up event concluded successfully amid a warm and romantic Christmas atmosphere, drawing many fans to witness the moment and adding another standout record to GinJay’s popularity in Taiwan.
